  1. Hello teacher!
Blondes are a certain type, even class, of women. The word ‘blonde’ long ago entered people’s every-day vocabulary, and a huge number of jokes, rumours and sayings have been made up about fair-haired women. Until recently blondes have produced a mystical effect on men. And although many men claim to have an indifferent, sometimes even disparaging, attitude towards them, everyone will admit that blondes are special women. Incidentally, scientists long ago proved that blonde women are not fools, and naturally fair-haired women are even more intelligent than their counterparts with dyed blonde hair.

    this is my comment:
I have read that scientists claim that the reason for the rapid proliferation of blonde women throughout the world was the nomadic way of life of our distant ancestors. In searching for food African tribes moved nearer to Europe, and in the course of some 35-40 thousand years a genetic mutation led to the emergence of blonde women. If our ancestors had stayed on their own continent, the natural evolutionary process turning brunettes into blondes would have taken no less than 850 thousand years.
That is part of blonde women´s history.
in my opinion I think that hair color has n
nothing to do with people´s intelligence, you are what you really can think or say not what your color of your hair is, or what your face looks like.

  3. Hi teacher Mario
This is my comment about the reading you handed us in last class.
First we have to point out that nobody can judge you by your apperance or hair color,
we are valued by our intelligence, for what we can produce or for what we can give in benefit to our world. The body in which we live in is only a simple mask that shows particular aspect of ourselves. I can´t say that blonde people are less intelligent than afroamerican people or viceversa. Every human being has its own characteristics and idysincrases, we are not all the same though we belong to the same race.
Itellingence depends on many factors not only in hair color or skin color.

  4. During many time, blondes have been considered as stupid or dumb people by others which have beautiful olive and brunette skin, with blondes showing only very rarely to them, but this treated is due to blonde hair is a recessive trait, and therefore somewhat rarer than brown or black hair. That has traditionally made it desirable. Then, the brunettes who used to be admired at their areas became replaced by blondes because the blondes look very cute and innocent for men and it was as much that the movie stars women were blondes and many other women wanted to be like them, so they tried to dye their hair even it could mean a lot of money. But, if blondes are so stupid, why do men die for them? It's the media as well as the universal concept that lighter is better. A white with blonde-hair and blue eyes is as white as it gets. Other people put them on a pedestal too, so it gives them a feeling of arrogance.
Blondes are seen as stupid because of reaction against the old image of blonde as beautiful, class jealousy, their image of being sexual promiscuous, and the contributions of the rich, famous, and airheaded, blond woman do not have to be intelligent if they are beautiful.
Personally, I think it doesn’t matter the color of your skin, eyes or hair cause the most important thing in a person is how much you can love and get inside of you to share it with the others who love you, it comes more important to be yourself being happy with that than your physical appearance cause finally it is not going to be a transcendental thing but your actions and your way to be with the others is going to be alive forever in their minds instead of the physical appearance which early or late will die. 6. Good day teacher, here I leave my commentary

The stereotypes are cultural beliefs on a certain group or social type. These beliefs are difficult to change but it don´t become attached very much to the reality, the bad thing is in that become custom and habit to evaluate the persons without knowing them. The myth of which the blondes are silly or hollow, maybe originates for some such known persons as Marilyn Monroe and the movie " the men prefer them blondes ", but if we put to think, Marilyn has not been so silly since she could manage to be very popular in her times and there was gained the sharm of many people
I think that actually much depends on the education of the persons, because in spite of having a different stereotype, with a good education all the persons we have the same opportunities. In addition, the blondes take advantage to us, since they are the dream of every man or at least they say it

THE ARCHETYPICAL IMAGE OF THE DUMB BLONDE.

Many ears ago on July 9th in America, there was organized the national blonde day to confront the belief that the blondes are dumb and ingenuous, a lot of people think that these idea was stupid and nothing seriously but these event was supported by MGM and coincided with the film “ LEGALY BLONDE”.

in other place like Britain an American some phrases as “ HAVING A BLONDE MOMENT “ is the same manner of saying “ doing something stupid” all of these words became popularity of this stereotype of the “ blonde dumb” this was the reason for that some joker make humour at other people’s expense.

Although Tony Cassidy (psychologist) has carried out an experiment to find out how people really do see blondes he got one girl and the professional dressed in four different coloured wigs as: peroxide, blonde, red and brown and those were the results:

Peroxide blonde: was considered significantly less intelligent than the other three included the natural blonde
    Red - brown: more shy
    Blonde: more popular

Actually we can see different” silly" with
Different colors of hair, ja ja ja
If not lets see the girl who participated in a beauty pageant and when she was questioned she answered stupid thing, in that case not all blondes are dumb.

Although many times people can judge others wrongly believing and letting go only by the appearance (blonde), of which it is said that if they are blondes so they are lacking neurons and do not think. In particular this article can lead me to think that actually many times we can make a mistake when we give our opinion against the others and it will be better to try to make things better for the good of all.

  21. This article is very interesting, because it reflects the differents opinions that give the people about the “blonde girl” or “dumb blonde.”
In these times, the society criticizes to the blonde people, because the people consider her as a nice face or woman without neurons(do not think) or less intelligent. This we estimate in the “Legally blonde” movie; where show a law student that want to excel herself and to demonstrate that the blondes can be successful and that not only they are nice or silly women.

But far from this marginalization given by the society, I think that nobody can judge you by your apperance or hair color, I can´t say that blonde people are less intelligent than red or brown hair people. Every human being has its own characteristics that make special persons with differents skills and capacities.
For this reason I think that the color of hair doesn´t do to persons, rather your different skills make you a better person.

For this we all must be happy with what god has given us be of physically or internally, and not to aspire to be another person so as to meet well in front of the society, as happen with those persons that they paint the hair for simple pretense or others that want change something in your body.

Ok Teacher, I don'thave to say more.

But we don’t forget that there are many prejudices about blonde people in our society. It’s time to value the essence before the color of the skin or hair. All are the same for God.

    b) Where the action, did take place?
    Stated of Alaska (USA)
    c) What´s the movie about?
The thing with The Proposal was you could predict the ending AND predict some events that would be happening throughout the film and some of the main problems were cliché, but I wasn't basing my opinions on this movie to be, “Is it going to be predictable, because if it is, I won't like it!" No, I wasn't like that, because I knew this film was going to be predictable here and there, but I was looking to see if they made it enjoyable and at least brought some fresh, new material to the table, which they certainly did that! I thought some scenes were just so wonderfully done and the whole movie itself was constructed perfectly for the type of movie that it is.
I had a really good time watching The Proposal and thought it was great entertainment with insanely lovable characters; I wanted to shriek with joy every time I saw Grandma Annie; a lot of incredibly humorous scenes at times, my favorites were when Margaret and Grandma Annie were dancing to the spirits which got the biggest laughs out of any part of the movie from me and when the dog was picked up by an eagle and Margaret was chasing it around trying to get her phone back; BOTH HYSTERICAL, and some questionable, yet sweet and charming dialogue; Near the end in the office was cute and original, and the credits were funny as well with the dialogue in them. This movie while being cliché, as I've stated many times, did still pack a very powerful punch and made me laugh, cry and enjoy it tremendously, so therefore it succeeded in what it was meant to do in the first place and that was to entertain.

    d) What would you do if that happened to you?
I think if someone proposes to me a proposal like Andrew, I would accept only if she satisfies my rules.
    e) Do a written report on the movie 50 words at least.
Margaret Tate is the executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company, Colden Books. All of her workers, including her assistant Andrew Paxton hate her, and she fires a senior editor, Bob Spaulding. After learning she is being deported to Canada, she forces Andrew to marry her, as his future is tied to hers. When the government investigates, Mr. Gilbertson informs them that they will undergo rigorous testing to prove that the marriage is not fraudulent. Andrew grudgingly accepts, under the condition that he is promoted to the position of editor and his manuscript be published. The two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska in order to sell the lie. Margaret is very unreceptive of Alaska, and is shocked to learn that Andrew's family owns most of the business in Sitka. Andrew announces that he and Margaret are getting married. But as most romantic comedies, we know where this is all going as Margaret realizes the true value of family and Andrew realizes that Margaret is human as well.

  41. In this movie the main characters are Margaret Tate and Andrew Paxton and the actions take place in Sitka - Alaska.
It is about a girl(Magaret Tate) who works as an editor, very powerful, who suddenly faces deportation to Canada, her native country. To avoid this, the astute executive declares that she is committed to his assistant (Andrew Paxton), who had being tortured by hers for years. Andrew agrees to participate in the farce but with some conditions. The "couple" is then directed to Alaska to know the peculiar Andrew´s family, his grandmother, his mother and dad, and the executive city, who used to have everything under control, is immersed in surreal situations that are beyond any logic reason. With wedding plans underway and an immigration agent on her trail, Margaret and Andrew agree to follow the plan provided to marry despite the consequences, they fall in love with.

I have never imagined to be in a similar situation but I think I would never make that kind of plan to face my problems even if I dont, I´d finish in a bigger problem. I guess I would try to find another exit to the troubles in my life; but if I´d decided to make the same decision the main character made, firstable I´d try to spend good time with his family and being myself and being as they are at the same time because it was their costums, their being state and no one is going to make them change so I have to adecute myself to them.

For me, this romantic commedy was very enjoyable, because of the struggles of the movie and the scenes they have to live. They were very difficult situations!, but as all the stories and the things we live, have a dispatch to us and, in this case, is that sometimes we have the perfect one so close to us and we cant notice it because of we dont want to see it or dont give us the opprtunity to see it and that the people who is socialy under us are not less that us, by the contrast, they are as good as us or they could be even better then us and could show us how wrong we were about them.

Menelaus, King of Sparta, successor to Tyndareus
    Helen, Daughter of Tyndareus
    Priam, King of Troy
    Paris, Prince of Troy.
    Hector, Prince of Troy.
    Hecuba, Queen of Troy.
    Cassandra, Princess of Troy.

2.Where does the story take place?

    Ancient Greek

3.What or who impressed you and why?

Men, human kind in general, as seen in the Iliad gave in to their desires more than actually thinking about the effects of their actions. Human kinds are people who possessed the capability of weighing their actions. Doing so wouldn't hurt anyone. It would actually help. For that, the actors did well on their parts evoking emotions from the viewers. Although there were a contrasting depiction of some characters from the text and from the movie, such as Helen and Paris, the effect was still great.

    4.What’s the story about?

The story is mainly about the fairest woman, Helen, who had been the reason of igniting a war between the Trojans and the Spartans. Helen has a husband who is the King of Sparta, Menelaus. Helen didn't love Menelaus because he was madly in love with Prince Paris of Troy. So one day, when Menelaus was out, Helen ran away with Paris and went off to Troy, the city of Byzantium riches and spices. The husband discovered it and he decided to attack Troy, with his brother as the chieftain, Agamemnon. Together, they led the war between the Trojans and Spartans that endured for ten years. On the tenth year, Agamemnon wanted to fight no more so he proposed peace. He let Menelaus and Paris fight over the woman they both love. Paris got wounded but Menelaus, kind-hearted, didn't slay him. Hector took the place of Paris and Achilles, on the side of the Greeks. Hector got killed and Achilles dragged his body and let it fed by dogs. Paris, strong by now, revenged for his brother's death. He shot Achilles on his most vulnerable part, his heel. Achilles got killed. This time, the Greeks almost "gave up" and sailed back to an island just near Troy. They left a giant wooden horse outside the city of Troy. Sinon, who was so deceitful, said it was an offering to Athena and that they should get it inside the city. So they did. During the night, Trojans partied as if there was no end. This time, the Greeks were about to sack the city. So it happened. The Trojans' defense fell and Troy got devastated.

5.Do you think is it Good Movie? Why?

The movie was effective in delivering the story to the people. They emphasized some scenes which are meant to be highlighted. The script was not really that effective because some lines don't have any sense at all. The sound effects had a great impact which supported the important scenes. It is good enough to watch, and like other movies, it has different genres. Helen of Troy doesn't only focuses on the action part but also the emotional/dramatic scenes. For that I think it is very effective for everybody who likes the literature.

    Cassandra, Princess of Troy.

Menelaus, King of Sparta, successor to Tyndareus
    Priam, King of Troy
    Hector, Prince of Troy.

    2. Where does the story take place?

    Ancient Greek

    3. What or who impressed you and why?

The characters played their roles well. But it's not easy to understand if you are completely clueless about the great epic. Most of the actors/actresses performance reflected the character they were playing well. Credits to Agamemnon, Paris, Menelaus, Cassandra, King Priam, Hector, etc; for a good performance, they kept the intensity of their roles all throughout the movie.

    4. What’s the story about?

The movie and the text were different in a lot of ways. There were several discrepancies in the characters. In the movie Eris, the goddess of discord, was not shown and Athena, Aphrodite and Hera only appeared once. Oenone and Patroclus, Achilles' best friend, were not also shown in the movie. On the other hand, Cassandra, the sister of Paris, was given more importance in the movie though in the text she was only mentioned once. There were also dissimilarities in the setting. The original story stated that Paris was sent to a forest when he was still a baby but then it did not look like a forest in the movie. After reading the Iliad I imagined Troy as a very majestic or royal place that really looks like a palace but that was not the way the movie showed it. In the movie, Troy looked like an old palace and not so majestic.
In the movie Achilles fought against the Trojans because Hector urged him but in the text he fought against Troy to revenge for Patroclus' death. In Helen of Troy Agamemnon just got Iphigenia to be offered but in Iliad he sent her a letter stating that she is to marry Achilles. Though there are dissimilarities in the characters and settings, the movie and the text still focused on the same themes and both ended with the Greeks victorious.

    5. Do you think is it Good Movie? Why?

Yes of course, because the movie talked about how the Greeks sailed to Troy to get Helen back and how they defeated them with the use of the Trojan horse. Several themes were discussed in the movie just like love (romantic love, love for state and love for family), fate and destiny, women, wars and heroism. I can say that the actors of the movie were very convincing.

5.Do you think is it a good movie? Why?

    * CASSANDRA, Princess of Troy
    * LEDA, Queen of Sparta, mother of Helen.
    * CASTOR AND POLLUX, Helen's brothers
    * THESEUS, King of Athens

2.WHERE DOES THE STORY TAKE PLACE?
ANCIENT GREEK : begins in Sparta but the action develops in Troy.

3.WHAT OR WHO IMPRESSED YOU AND WHY?

Well, the character who most impressed to me was Menelaus, King of Sparta, successor to Tyndareus. He was Agamemnon's younger brother. Married to Helen and disgraced by her affair with Paris, he sought to avenge his honor with the conquest of Troy. However, he impressed to me, because he proved quieter, less imposing, and less arrogant than Agamemnon. He was not a bad person, he felt a sorrow of killing to paris, his heart was more compassionatly and not blocked up by the hatred like it he was his brother Agamemnon.

    4.WHAT’S THE STORY ABOUT?

Paris is the son of the King of Troy. As he is born, his older sister, Cassandra, who has visions of the future, tells the King that if the boy lives then Troy will be destroyed. The King orders the baby taken to the mountains and there to be left to die. He is rescued by a passing goat herder who raises the boy as his own. After the passing of time, the boy has grown into a man and while searching for a lost goat he enters a cave and there meets three beautiful women - three goddesses. They offer him the choice of love, power or riches. He chooses love and is shown an image of the lovely Helen.
Meanwhile, young Helen has been kidnapped from her home and during her rescue, her brother, the only heir to the throne of Sparta is killed. The King of Sparta blames Helen for this and throws her out of his household. There to pay tribute to the death of the heir are many other Kings from the surrounding area. They are all captivated by Helen's beauty, but worried by the curse that appears to follow her. Agamemnon, who is married to Helen's sister, desires Helen but the others prevent him from making a claim. His younger brother is also completely smitten by Helen. The kings all decide to make a pact. They will all place their rings in a jar and the one that wins will get Helen. To counter what appears to be the bad side of association with this woman, they swear that if anything takes Helen from the winner that they will all band together with their armies and go to any lengths to ensure her return.
Helen is treated atrociously by her new husband - he makes her walk naked through parties to show her off. Paris appears on the scene during one of these parties - he has been reunited with his family and sent as an emissary. Helen and Paris instantly recognize each other from the visions shown to them by the Goddesses and fall deeply in love. They escape and return to Troy, thus triggering the siege of Troy by the other kings who are driven by the pact that they have made.
During the night, Trojans partied as if there was no end. This time, the Greeks were about to sack the city. So it happened. The Trojans' defense fell and Troy got devastated.

5.DO YOU THINK IS IT A GOOD MOVIE? WHY?

For my the movie is marvellous, because actionand drama combines not alone, also the romance that was demonstrated between Hellen and Paris and it made more spectacular.
The unravels of every character were very emotively, since many people died in the fight, some of them continued fighting and others gave everything until the end causing a fatal conclusion in troy, and it captivated the public That I delight with every showed scene.

  51. Helen of troy
The characters in this film are: Helen; Castor and Pollux, Helen's brothers, which is also wrong according to mythology. Agamemnon, Mycenaean king, and the main antagonist in the movie. Menelaus, King of Sparta and Helen´s husband. Clytemnestra, sister of Helen and wife of Agamemnon, Priam, King of Troy
Hecuba, Queen of Troy. Cassandra, Princess of Troy and also priestess of Apollo. Paris, youngest son of Priam and also the lost son. His love affair with Helen sparked the Trojan War. Hector, Prince of Troy and Paris brother. This story takes place in Sparta, where begins the movie and Paris and Helen meet themselves; and finally the actions develop in Troy, the place where starts the war. All the sceneries are in Greece.
The character who impressed me was Agamemnon due to his thoughts, his ambition and the idea that he could get all he wanted for him without taking importance to the cost of them neither the other´s lives.
This is a very exciting movie that firstable was in writing for being an epic story, so it is very important to know about other places literature to know their lifes style and their thoughts.
Prince Paris of Troy, shipwrecked on a mission to the king of Sparta, meets and falls for Queen Helen before he knows who she is. Rudely received by the royal Greeks, he must flee...but fate and their mutual passions lead him to take Helen along. This gives the Greeks just the excuse they need for much-desired war.
The Greeks are plotting to invade Troy to steal the treasures of the Trojans. Meanwhile Prince Paris is assigned by his wise father and King of Troy to travel to Sparta and shows the peaceful intentions of his people. Along his journey, he falls into the sea during a storm and is rescued on the shore by the Queen of Sparta, Helen. When he recovers, he believes that she is a slave and they fall in love with each other. When he arrives at the Spartan palace, he is arrested by King Menelaus but Helen helps him to escape. They travel together to Troy and give the excuse the Greeks need to start the war and put Troy under siege for years. The Greeks are unsuccessful in their intents, until they listen to the cunning Ulysses. The Greeks then withdraw their one thousand ships from the Trojan waters and offer a wooden Horse of Troy as a gift to the winners.

    Paris, Prince of Troy.
    Cassandra, Princess of Troy.
    Agamemnon: King of Mycenae.
Menelaus, King of Sparta, successor to Tyndareus
    Priam, King of Troy
    Hector, Prince of Troy.
    2. Where does the story take place?
    Ancient Greek
    3. What or who impressed you and why?
The character who impressed to me was Menelaus He was Agamemnon's younger brother. Married to Helen and disgraced by her affair with Paris, he fought to avenge his honor. He was not a bad person, he felt a sorrow of killing to Paris.
    4.What’s the story about?
The story is about Helen, who had been the reason of igniting a war between the Trojans and the Spartans.
5.Do you think is it a good movie? Why?
I think it is a good movie because Helen of Troy doesn't only focuses on the action part but also the emotional/dramatic scenes. For that I think it is very effective for everybody who likes the literature.
6.Do a written report on the movie 50 words at least
Helen, the Olympian-born, dazzlingly beautiful trophy wife of Sparta's King Menelaus. Unhappy in her "marriage of state," Helen yearned for the companionship of the gorgeous young man whom she had seen only in a vision: Paris, the Prince of Troy. As luck would have it, Paris managed to "abduct" Helen and spirit her off to his homeland, where she was welcomed by his father, King Priam, despite the portents of doom from Paris' foresighted sister, Cassandra. Meanwhile back in Sparta, King Menelaus, his honor besmirched, declared war on Troy, thus beginning a ten-year conflict that would culminate disastrously in the incident of the Trojan horse.
